91ÑÇÉ«'s College of Engineering will celebrate Engineers Week (E-Week) from February 17–21 with a diverse lineup of events designed to recognize the contributions of engineers and inspire the next generation of innovators. Part of a national initiative founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers, E-Week at 91ÑÇÉ« is supported by the Kern Family Foundation through the KEEN Annual Support Grant.

In just three years, 91ÑÇÉ«’s E-Week has grown from two events in 2023 to a full week of activities in 2025, including design challenges, technology demonstrations, a career fair, and networking opportunities.

For the first time, E-Week will engage the broader community, with a special emphasis on outreach to underrepresented groups in engineering. A key highlight of the week is the February 19 STEM Outreach event, where middle and high school students from Girls of the Valley, Inc. in Holyoke will visit campus to explore STEM opportunities. This event aims to spark interest in engineering and encourage young women to pursue careers in the field. According to the Society for Women Engineers, as of 2021 only 7.7% of women worked in science and engineering (S&E) occupations.

“We are passionate about providing hands-on learning experiences for students and inspiring the next generation of engineers,” said Mike Rust, PhD, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of Experiential & Entrepreneurial Learning. “Welcoming Girls of the Valley to campus is especially exciting, as it aligns with our mission to support diversity and inclusion in STEM.”

E-Week Schedule of Events

Monday, February 17: Design Challenges – 12:00–1:00 p.m., Rivers Memorial Hall
Tuesday, February 18: Design Challenges – 12:00–2:00 p.m., University Commons
